The moving return of Juan Manuel Correa to Spa

Two years after the terrible accident which cost the life of Anthoine Hubert, during the long race Formula 2 On August 31, 2019, Juan Manuel Correa returned to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the first time as part of a competition. Now in Formula 3, the 22-year-old American spoke about his state of mind as the weekend in Belgium approaches: “I think there are two JM (Juan Manuel Correa, Editor’s note) who will go to Spa. There will be the JM of the 2021 Formula 3 season who will be focused and treat this race like any other race, believes the driver of the French ART Grand Prix team. For sure, I want to continue my progress this season, score points, get on the podium and I would love to win a race. »

Currently 19th in the drivers' standings after five rounds, the native of Quito will also have to face the terrible memory of this accident which occurred at the top of the Raidillon: “Then there is the personal JM whose life was marked by what happened at Spa two years ago. It will always be special to me because of what happened, because of the fact that Anthoine lost his life... It will always be moving. There is also this angle that I will have to manage. I'll try not to get too distracted but it's a reality, and I'm also happy to go and race again after so long. It will be an opportunity for me to face my fears and show everyone that I can drive there without any problems and hopefully have some good races. »
