The series of 7 different polemen in as many heats is over! Already in pole position at Imola for 2e round of the season last April, Zane Maloney became the first double pole-sitter of the year this Friday by dominating qualifying for the Dutch event.
Following on from his excellent stint in the Ardennes where he won his first victory of the season, Zane Maloney left nothing to chance in the seaside resort of Zandvoort. If Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) showed himself to be his toughest rival, the Trident driver set the record straight during his penultimate attempt (the last being canceled due to a red flag) by setting a time of 1'24"386. Too far away to compete against the man from Barbados, the Habs finally had to settle for 2nd place, 2 tenths behind, thus losing any chance of the first pole position of the year.
Hadjar saved, Bearman and Leclerc far behind
In the tough in Belgium last week due to a mechanical problem, particularly in qualifying, Isack Hadjar (Hitech GP) made up for it with the 6th fastest time of the session. It must be said that the Habs were greatly helped by the appearance of the red flag less than 2 minutes from the end after William Alatalo (Jenzer) went off the track, which prevented various drivers from improving and therefore potentially passing behind him. The session neutralized and not restarted, the championship leader was able to maintain his property and thus a good opportunity for big points this weekend. A chance that the Prema drivers, Oliver Bearman and Arthur Leclerc did not have.
In the fight for the title, the Englishman and the Monegasque are condemned to come back in both the Sprint Race and the Main Race. Oliver Bearman and Arthur Leclerc missed out on their session with only the 14th and 20th times.
