  • As is often the case, the wet conditions provided a lot of spectacle on the track. The qualifying session at Spa-Francorchamps was no exception to the rule as the drivers had to fight until the end to find out who would take pole position. And it was Pepe Martí (Campos) who emerged victorious.
  • Taking advantage of the improvement in track conditions as he approached the checkerboard, the Spaniard waited until the last moments to drive home the point. While everything suggested that Prema was going to place his three men at the forefront, Pepe Martí took them by surprise by placing himself at the top of the timesheet with a lap in 2'22"160.
  • On the line, he ultimately did not beat Dino Beganovic, Paul Aron or Zak O'Sullivan but Leonardo Fornaroli (Trident), whose level has improved in recent weeks. It didn't even come down to anything between them since Pepe Martí beat him by 16 thousandths while Gabriele Mini (Hitech GP) took 3e place on the grid just 94 thousandths from pole position. Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) and a surprising Nikola Tsolov (ART Grand Prix) completed the Top 5.
  • To find traces of the Prema pilots, you have to go down to 6e, 7e and 11e positions with Zak O'Sullivan in the lead ahead of Dino Beganovic and Paul Aron.
  • While he has a first match point, Gabriel Bortoleto (Trident) will have to jostle if he wants to be crowned this weekend. Indeed, the championship leader did not respond this Friday afternoon signing the 15e time only a little more than a second from the reference. Everything remains to be done for the Brazilian who will have to come back to hope to score points and above all win the title.
