First success in FIA F3 for Yuki Tsunoda in Italy

F4 Japan Champion in 2018, Yuki tsunoda (Jenzer) scored his first FIA success F3 this Sunday at the Monza Autodrome in Italy, at the end of a race fought on a track drying out as the laps went by.

However, it was Jake Hughes (HWA Racelab) who had the best momentum at the start of the race by taking the lead after the first braking scrum, several drivers shooting straight into the break and Marcus Armstrong (Prema ) going into a spin.

Behind Hughes, Yuki Tsunoda and pole sitter Fabio Scherer (Sauber Junior Team by Charouz) hang on to try to maintain the best possible slipstream. If for a time, Hughes seemed able to escape, Tsunoda demonstrated his mastery on the drying Monza track and gradually returned to the lead's wake.

On lap 15, Tsunoda took the lead at the end of the pit straight. The Japanese then resisted a new attack from Hughes from the outside in the Parabolic, and controlled the end of the event to sign his first success in the category.

The protégé of Honda and Red Bull undoubtedly scored big points for its future in car with this success achieved ahead of Liam Lawson (MP Motorsport), another resident of the Red Bull young driver program, and Jake Hughes.

Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport) and Pedro Piquet (Trident) complete the top 5. Championship leader Robert Shwartzman (Prema), winner yesterday in the main race, was more discreet and finished the race in 8th place, but will be in good position to be crowned at home in Sochi, Russia at the end of the month.
