First victory of the season for Leclerc who puts pressure on Martins

After coming close to pole position this Friday, Arthur Leclerc made his efforts come true this Sunday. Starting at the front, the Prema driver found the necessary resources to get the better of Zak O'Sullivan (Carlin) and win for the first time this year.

Arthur Leclerc's business started very well at the start of the Sunday day at Silverstone. Very well off to a good start, the Monegasque managed to get the better of pole sitter Zak O’Sullivan at the Stowe bend on the first lap. Alas, he overtook just as the Safety Car appeared on the track. Forced to return the position, the Prema pilot was obliged to redo all his efforts. Nothing to discourage him.

The race restarted, Arthur Leclerc quickly made the difference over Zak O’Sullivan. Well helped by the DRS of the first long straight, the cadet of Charles Leclerc This time he overtook according to the rules of the art and took the lead for good on the 6th lap. Despite an excellent pace, the Monegasque was unable to break away from the Briton who continued to put pressure on him.

Still under threat from his Carlin counterpart, Arthur Leclerc was obliged to restart the race for 8 laps after a new intervention by the safety car (Villagomez exit). Here again, the member of the Ferrari Driver Academy did not flinch and managed the exercise perfectly. Despite a lead of less than a second, the Prema driver did not give in to the pressure and concretized his good efforts with a victory in the Main Race, his first in this 2022 campaign. Oliver Bearman (Prema) completed the podium

Hadjar, objective achieved

Winner of the Sprint Race on Saturday, Isack Hadjar (Hitech GP) had a clear objective in mind for this Sunday: the Top 5. The least we can say is that the Ile-de-France native carried out his task well at Silverstone. Placed in 9th position on the grid, the member of Red Bull Junior Team wasted no time in coming into the spotlight.

After 8 laps and a restart of the race, Isack Hadjar was already in 5th position after overtaking his teammate Kaylen Frederick, Roman Stanek (Trident) and Jak Crawford (Prema). The Tricolor then tried everything to get back on the group in front of him but stuck in a DRS train he was never able to put himself in position to attack the drivers preceding him.

With this fine 5th position, Isack Hadjar remains clinging to 3rd place in the championship with 68 points, 3 less than Arthur Leclerc and 9 than leader Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix), 7th on the line this Sunday.
