Sprint – Colapinto gets the better of Boya, Bortoleto on the podium

Second victory of the season for Franco Colapinto who held off his teammate Mari Boya. Champion Gabriel Bortoleto celebrated his title with a podium.

Sprint – Colapinto gets the better of Boya, Bortoleto on the podium

  • He was hot but he held on. Starting from pole position, Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport) had to quickly lose to his teammate Mari Boya who attacked him from the first braking. After an eventful start to the race with a few collisions and the intervention of the Safety Car, the Argentinian was able to put his plan into motion.
  • If a crossover took place in the first laps after the restart, Franco Colapinto took back control of the Sprint Race at 10e of the 18 passages in the program. From then on, the protégé of Williams took advantage of the comeback of Gabriel Bortoleto (Trident) on Mari Boya to take off.
  • Helped by the pressure put by the Brazilian on his teammate, Franco Colapinto definitely took cover by pushing his pursuers back by more than a second. He was thus able to sign his second success of the year, again in a Sprint Race after that at Silverstone last July.
  • Crowned champion on Friday after qualifying, Gabriel Bortoleto performed very well this Saturday. Party 8e after the application of the reverse grid, the Brazilian made a good comeback to steal 2e place for Mari Boya in the final moments. A great way to celebrate your title.
  • In the championship, Franco Colapinto carried out the good operation of the day. With the retirements of Paul Aron (Prema) and Pepe Martí (Campos), and the penalty from Zak O'Sullivan (Prema) which took him out of the Top 10, the Argentinian moves back to 2e rank behind Gabriel Bortoleto.
