Théo Pourchaire recovers second place in C2 at Monza

Ahead of the season finale at Mugello next weekend, the FIA general classification F3 was modified after the finish of the second race at Monza. If Jake Hughes (HWA Racelab) retains the benefit of his victory, the French Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) regained second place in the race, following various penalties inflicted in the peloton.

Second under the checkerboard, Liam Lawson (Hitech GP) was penalized 10″ on his race time for forcing Lirim Zendeli (Trident) to go off-line at turn 1 on the 9th lap. Lawson thus falls to 7th place in the final ranking of this second confrontation, leaving Pourchaire to take 2nd place and Alex Smolyar (ART Grand Prix), third.

Worse for Lawson, the New Zealander lost his third place in the championship before the final meeting at Mugello to the benefit of Théo Pourchaire.

Other drivers sanctioned, but whose penalty will be transformed into a loss of five places on the Tuscan grid: Clément Novalak (Carlin) (for contact with Michael Belov (Charouz) and Oscar piastri (Prema)) and this same Piastri, for having forced David Beckmann to go off-course.

Slightly less severe sanction, but three penalty places on the next grid, for Logan sargeant (Prema), for a collision with his teammate Frederik Vesti. The two championship leaders, Piastri and Sargeant will therefore be impacted during the Mugello final.

Note the disqualification of Bent Viscaal (MP Motorsport), a member of his team having reattached the steering wheel under closed park conditions.
