Third pole of the season for Dennis Hauger

The difficult weekend at Spa-Francorchamps was therefore just an accident. A week after seeing his lead in the championship halve due to a difficult round in the Ardennes, Dennis Hauger (Prema) immediately raised his head by claiming pole position at the Zandvoort meeting this Friday, his third of the year in just six meetings. The Norwegian beat the surprising David Schumacher (Trident/+0″135) and direct competition in the championship, since Jack Doohan (Trident/+0″359) could not do better than 4th while Frederik Vesti (ART Grand Prix) punctuated the session far away, in 14th position.

Victor Martins 3rd

Finally, of the contenders for places of honor in the championship, it was Victor Martins (MP Motorsport/+0″305) who did the best. Author of one of the two poles in Formula Renault on this same track a year ago, the Frenchman qualified in 3rd position and should therefore be in the battle for big points on Sunday in race 3. Despite an average second sector, the Ile-de-France native managed to light up sector 3 in purple during his last push lap. We will find his compatriot Clément Novalak (Trident/+0″381) in 5th place on the grid.

Author of the best time in free practice on Friday morning, the young American Jak Crawford (Hitech) achieved a very good 7th time, just behind Caio Collet (MP Motorsport). The session was especially marked by the fact that several drivers entered the pits three times and put on three different sets of tires, compared to the usual two. The difficulty of overtaking here has indeed pushed the teams to place emphasis on qualifying. Note that the third run was disrupted by a red flag waved (a little quickly) five minutes from the end of the session, after Yeany (Charouz) spun in the banking. The drivers therefore only had one lap to improve their mark afterwards. Author of the 12th fastest time, Amaury Cordeel (Campos) will start in pole position thanks to the reverse grid, in front Logan sargeant (Charouz) and Arthur Leclerc (Prema). The first race will take place at 10:35 a.m. this Saturday.
