Before even starting a new campaign of Formula 3, Victor Martins has his very well defined roadmap. Retained for the 2nd year in a row within theAlpine Academy et new member of the ART Grand Prix contingent, the Habs know they are eagerly awaited for this 2022 season where their objective is already set, and not only by them.

« Yes it's clear, he replied to the French press when explaining if Alpine asked him for the championship title this year. I had a very solid year in 2021 with MP which was not necessarily the best team nor one of the two or three best on the board. With Caio (Collet, his former teammate), we succeeded very well in taking them to the forefront. NOW, Alpine knows that ART has won for several years, I think they are aware of my potential. They know it has to win, it's the only thing I have to do to continue after my chances of going to F1, or to go to F2 Before. It's very clear. Even I give myself the goal of being champion »

To achieve this, the task will not be easy for the winner of the Formula Renault 2020 with ART Grand Prix. Opposing him is Prema, the team which has dominated the promotion formulas in recent times with driver and team titles in all categories. But despite the strength of the Italian structure, Victor Martins does not seem discouraged, on the contrary.

« It's going to be complicated, recognizes the Frenchman. Prema has shown to be good everywhere in 2021. For Jak Crawford I think it will be a plus for him being with them after a very good year at Hitech GP. He's going to be tough.

I still tell myself that I can only be better by being at ART Grand Prix. It's a team that I know very well and with which I won in Formula Renault. The team's results were good last year with Frederik Vesti. I don't see any reason why we shouldn't be at the forefront to fight for the title but it's sure that it will be complicated to beat Prema. It's been a few years since anyone got there. The objective will therefore be to break the momentum."

Fixed on his main mission one month before the start of the season (March 18 to 20 in Bahrain), the Ile-de-France resident still keeps his calm and does not prefer to plan too quickly.

« You will have to remain lucid, work on yourself, not necessarily look at others... I am certainly a contender for the title, I am one of the favorites, but I will try to do as in 2021 and not put pressure on myself.

First of all, I want to prepare well with the team, do good tests in Bahrain and then we will go step by step, weekend after weekend. There is no reason why the ART Grand Prix car should not work. It's a team that has been winning in recent years and I know what I'm capable of. I think we can get there."
