Vips wins the final in Sochi, Armstrong vice-champion

The main interest of this second Russian race lay in theidentity of the vice-campion. Two pilots could claim it : Jehan Daruvala and Marcus Armstrong, both engaged with Prema.

Alas, the duel was not going to take place. Jehan Daruvala, fourth on the grid, made a mistake in his formation lap start procedure and had to start from the pit lane. The 19-year-old New Zealander wasn't asking for that much, having started from seventh position.

While Jüri Vips quietly escaped in the lead to sign his third victory of the season, Marcus Armstrong carried out some nice overtaking maneuvers, until taking second place.

Holder of the fastest lap in the race, he took enough points to finish runner-up to Robert Shwartzman (Prema) in the championship. The Russian, titled Saturday at the end of Race 1, finished on the last step of the podium after starting sixth.

Yifei Ye (HitechGP) signs his first points in 2019 with sixth place, while for his second start in the discipline, David Schumacher (Campos Racing, son of Ralf Schumacher) finished 20th.
