The starting grid for the first race of the weekend in London is set. And after a tough battle during the Super Pole, it was Alex Lynn (Mahindra) who took pole position, his first this year, the second of his career.
The Englishman was uncompromising at the most important moment of qualifying. He completed his fastest lap of the London track in 1’23”245, beating Jake Dennis (BMW) by almost 3 tenths and Sébastien Buemi (Nissan e-Dams) of 4.
The other Habs, Jean-Éric Vergne (DS Techeetah), was not helped by starting in the first part of qualifying. In difficulty on a track which dried out as the session progressed, the Pontoisian ranked 23rd and penultimate on the grid. Only Maximilian Günther (BMW) did not do better than him.
Championship leader, Sam Bird (Jaguar) aims to move up the standings this afternoon. The venue for the event is only 18th in this first qualifying session of the weekend.
