FR 2.0-C1: Yifei Ye for a premiere at Monza

Author of pole position this morning in qualifying, the Chinese Yifei Ye (Josef Kaufmann Racing) brilliantly won the first confrontation of the Monza weekend in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0.

The former 4 French FFSA F2016 champion dominated the race from start to finish, after taking the best start against Christian Lundgaard (MP Motorsport). The latter found himself fighting at the first braking with Max Fewtrell (R-Ace GP), championship leader before the Lombard round, and the two drivers making contact. Fewtrell was forced to return to the pits immediately.

In the lead, Ye maintains an advantage of just over a second over Lundgaard throughout the event, enough not to be worried by the MP Motorsport resident who will be able to do nothing to prevent Ye from winning his first success in Eurocup FR 2.0, the first for a Chinese driver in the specialty.

Lundgaard was the best rookie, finishing second ahead of Lorenzo Colombo (JD Motorsport). Alexander Smolyar (Tech 1 Racing) finished the event in fourth place ahead of Alex Peroni (MP Motorsport.
