FR 2.0-C3: Aitken champion, Barnicoat last winner

The final of theEurocup Formula Renault 2.0 on the Andalusian route of Jerez was decisive in the awarding of the title, even if Jack Aitken (Koiranen GP), winner of the two races contested yesterday, had taken a clear advantage in the quest for the coronation.

The Briton will not have had an easy task, after complicated qualifying and an exit from the track. Starting from the pit lane, Aitken did not have to see Kevin Jörg win to hope to be crowned. The Josef Kaufmann Racing driver also took a gamble on his choice of rubber by putting on wet tires, a bet that ultimately lost.

Neither Jörg, 24th at the finish, nor his teammate Louis Delétraz, 6th, were able to worry Aitken this Sunday who finished 16th and won the cup, his second title in 2015 after the ALPS crown. The last race was won by Ben Barnicoat (Fortec Motorsports) ahead of Anthoine Hubert (Tech 1 Racing) and Ignazio D'Agosto (Manor MP Motorsport). The Teams title went to Josef Kaufmann Racing.
