FR 2.0 – Vandoorne in force at the Nürburgring

Stoffel Vandoorne achieved the same result as the day before on the Nürburgring by signing a hat-trick with pole, victory and the fastest lap in the race during Race 2, the start of which was given on a still wet track. The Belgian had however opted for slick tires like Pierre Gasly (R-Ace GP) who started behind him on the second row while Daniil Kvyat (Koiranen Motorsport) and Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsprts) preferred the sculpted tires. Although this choice seemed momentarily profitable, the track quickly dried out and the drivers who chose wet tires fell in the standings.

The Belgian thus completed an exemplary race and signed his second consecutive victory which allowed him to take the lead in the Championship, Daniil Kvyat only finishing in 22nd place. “The choice of tires was not obvious before the start because the track was still really wet, but my team recommended slicks, so I decided to listen to the Germans in Germany! », comments the winner. “The first laps were not easy, you had to stay calm. Two poles and two victories, we can't do better, what a weekend! I take orders from the general. I love discovering new tracks, so I'm looking forward to Moscow Raceway. »

The Josef Kaufmann Racing driver was not the only one to shine as Melville McKee (Interwetten.com Racing) scored his best result in the discipline by taking second place after only starting from 32nd position. The podium is completed by Pierre Gasly (R-Ace GP) while his compatriot Paul-Loup-Chatin (Tech 1 Racing) takes fourth place ahead of Jordan King (Manor MP Motorsport). Norman Nato (RC Formula), on the other hand, was less lucky since he retired on the first lap of the race after having taken second place yesterday.
