FR 3.5-C3: First success for Nyck De Vries

Crowned Eurocup Champion Formula Renault 2.0 last year, Nyck De Vries (DAMS) will have waited for the final race of the year in Jerez in Spain, and the last of Formula Renault 3.5 before the resumption of the championship in 2016 by RPM Racing under the name Formula 3.5 Series, to add his name to the list.

The Dutchman quickly took control of the round against the pole sitter and champion Oliver Rowland (Fortec Motorsports) and well controlled the two interventions of the safety car caused by the exits of Nikita Zlobin (Pons Racing) and Roy Nissany (Tech 1 Racing) to win in the end ahead of Rowland and Matthieu Vaxivière (Lotus), returned to third position after a tough battle with Egor Orudzhev (Arden), the Russian suffering a puncture.

With this success, De Vries finished third in the championship and best Rookie. Tio Ellinas and Gustav Malja (Strakka Racing) took fourth and fifth place ahead Tom Dillmann (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin), Egor Orudzhev, Jazeman Jaafar (Fortec Motorsports), Sean Gelael (Jagonya Ayam with Carlin) and Nicholas latifi (Arden). Aurélien Panis (Tech 1 Racing) concludes his season with a thirteenth place.
