FR 3.5 – Will Stevens concludes testing in Barcelona

From the almost complete F1 to GP3, passing the World Series By Renault, each category having come to practice pre-season testing in Barcelona this winter had to deal with changing conditions. The Formula Renault 3.5 was no exception to the rule this Wednesday March 20, during their last day of collective testing on the Catalan circuit.

The day therefore started in wet conditions. Where some drivers practiced on a wet track, several teams, including Tech 1 Racing, took the opportunity to carry out pit stop sessions. In this configuration, it was Stoffel Vandoorne and Oliver James Webb from the Fortec Motorsports team who stood out in front Kevin Magnussen from the Dams stable.

In the afternoon, the thirteen Formula Renault 3.5 teams set off for the last on the Barcelona circuit. On the one hand, some sought pure performance, while others focused on stringing together long lap sessions in racing configuration. In the end, it was the Briton Will Stevens who was the best of the afternoon on a track that became more and more passable as the laps progressed. The P1 Motorsport driver (1:29.521) is just a breath ahead of Kevin Magnussen, from the Dams team, and Antonio Félix da Costa (Arden Caterham).

As a reminder, competitors will be able to perfect their settings during the first two meetings, since they will have two half-days of driving on the Thursdays before Monza and Motorland Aragón. These sessions replace the session of February 23, canceled due to heavy snowfall. the season starts at Monza in two weeks.
