FR2.0: the premiere of Max Fewtrell

Max Fewtrell (Tech 1 Racing) scored his first victory in Formula Renault Eurocup by winning Race 1 at Red Bull Ring (Austria). The Renault Sport Academy resident immediately took the lead in the race against pole sitter Max Defourny (R-ace GP) and retained the advantage until the finish.

 

 

The Belgian, who will compete in the tests next week F3 with Van Amersfoort Racing, had to settle for the last step of the podium after being overtaken by Sacha Fenestraz (Josef Kaufmann Racing) on ​​the last lap.

The Frenchman took the lead in the Drivers' standings by taking advantage of the poor performance of Robert Shwartzman (R-ace GP) 6th behind Gabriel Aubry (Tech 1 Racing). The Russian is now 4 points behind his direct rival for the title. Daniel Ticktum (Arden) and Thomas Randle (AVF by Adrian Valles) completed the initial top five before the Red Bull Junior Team resident received a 10s penalty for crashing a competitor, dropping him to 9th place.

Will Palmer (R-ace GP) lost important points in the title race. Starting 4th, the Briton only reached the finish line in 12th place and found himself 22 points behind the new leader following contact with Robert Shwartzman.
