FR3.5 – Roberto Merhi goes to Pons Racing

Last year, Roberto Merhi had bounced back in Formula Renault 3.5 after two mixed seasons in DTM in the fold Mercedes. The former champion F3 Euro Series 2011 (with Prema Powerteam), fielded by the Russian team Zeta Corse, was very quick, playing the leading roles against his compatriot and future champion Carlos Sainz and French Pierre Gasly. The Spaniard had also taken part three times in free practice en F1 with the Caterham F1 Team.

This season, the 23-year-old driver will defend the colors of the Iberian Pons Racing team, which in 2014 hired the Briton Oliver Webb, the Dutchman Meindert Van Buuren and the Colombian Oscar Tunjo. This confirmation follows in particular the announcement of the separation between Tunjo and the formation of Emilio de Villota, for budget issues. Merhi will return to his seat for the first event of the season, held at the Motorland of Aragon in Spain, on April 25 and 26.
