FRAC – Race 1: Perfect start for Montoya

Sebastian Montoya makes a dream debut in the category. After two years spent in Italian Formula 4, the Colombian made his debut in F3 Regional this year. To prepare for the FRECA, he aligned himself with the FRAC, the Asian winter championship played in the Gulf.

And the least we can say is that he has had an extremely promising start. Author of pole position in Q1, the son of Juan Pablo managed his first official race in the category perfectly, by successfully starting and restarting Safety Car. Well helped by the blocking on the grid of his front row companion Jak Crawford, Montoya managed to take off and then perfectly resisted the threat Isack Hadjar.

The Habs, second for a long time, were trapped at the Safety-Car restart. He had to give way to his teammate Gabriele Mini (Hitech), and Arthur Leclerc (Mumbai Falcons) took the opportunity to also pass and get a place on the podium. Hadjar finished 4th, while his compatriot Hadrien David finished at the back of the pack after being caught in an incident at turn 6. David nevertheless signed the best lap in a race that was quite poor in spectacle and overtaking. Note that race 2 will take place at 7:50 a.m. Sunday morning.
