GP2/GP3 – Frijns returns, Sims with Carlin

In GP2 and the little sister of GP3, two new features should be noted for this weekend in Belgium. In the anteroom of the Formula 1, it is first of all the return of Robin Frijns which should be highlighted. The reigning Formula champion Renault 3.5 once again joins the ranks of Hilmer Motosport, a team with which he rode piecemeal this year. A system which had stopped just before the Hungarian meeting, where the talented Dutchman had to leave his seat to the Briton Quaife-Hobbs, due to lack of necessary funds. This time it's Jon Lancaster who is sidelined, the Dutchman being entrusted with the car n ° 23.

In the GP3 Series, Alexander Sims will make a new appearance. The pilot of F3, who had already recorded a podium with a second place at the Nürburgring with the Status GP, was called to compete in the Belgian event with the Carlin team. “It was decided a little last minute, but of course I'm delighted to join the team for this weekend, explains the British pilot. JI've never raced on the Carlin team before, but I have a good relationship with Trevor (Carlin, the founder and main team of the stable, Editor’s note) and I was delighted when I was offered the opportunity to race this weekend. The new GP3 car is fantastic and Spa is a great circuit, so I'm looking forward to being on the circuit and hopefully I can deliver a good result. »
