GP3 – C2: First for Matias Laine at Spa

Starting in fourth position on the starting grid, Matias Laine was already in the lead of the event after the first of the 12 laps of the race on the Ardennes slide. Driver MW Arden quickly created a small lead over Lewis Williamson (Status GP) in order to remain safe from an overtaking attempt. Behind him, Williamson and Conor Daly engaged in a good duel but an error by the Briton in Pouhon gave the Lotus GP driver second place. However, it was Antonio Felix da Costa (Carlin) who finished the race in second position thanks to a great attack race which allowed him to move up the hierarchy after having started from seventh place on the starting grid.

Conor Daly completes the podium ahead of Alex Fontana (Jenzer Motorsport) and Daniel Abt (Lotus GP). Starting from pole position, Lewis Williamson did not have the pace to fight at the front. He therefore finished sixth ahead of Patric Niederhauser (Jenzer Motorsport) and William Buller (Carlin). Mitch Evans (MW Arden), the championship leader, had a difficult race and scored no points. However, his closest rival for the title, Aaro Vainio (Lotus GP), suffered the same fate during this second race of the Belgian round of the GP3 Series.

Thanks to a new podium, Antonio Felix da Costa takes provisional second place in the championship. The Portuguese is 21,5 points behind Mitch Evans.
