GP3 – Jack Aitken’s first victory at Spa

Jack Aitken (Arden International) scored his first success in the GP3 Series by winning Race 2 at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium). The reigning Eurocup Formula champion Renault 2.0 and the Alps series moved up the positions from fourth place on the grid and retained the lead of the event by avoiding the collisions which marred the peloton, forcing the safety car to come out three times.

Antonio Fuoco (Trident) secured second place after taking the lead over Santino Ferrucci (Dams) and pole sitter Matevos Isaakyan (Koiranen GP). The test pilot Haas F1 obtained his first podium, while the Russian was able to resist the leader of the Drivers classification Charles Leclerc (ART Grand Prix).

The Monegasque, victorious the day before, only took sixth place after failing to brake at the Bus Stop on the last lap. Jake Dennis (Arden International) took the opportunity to take last position. Steijn Schothorst (Campos Racing) and Nyck de Vries (ART Grand Prix) took the last points.

The first interruption of the race occurred following a spin by Konstantin Tereschenko (Campos Racing) at Fagnes. the race was then stopped following contact between Jake Hughes (Dams) and Matthew Parry (Koiranen GP) and Nirei Fukuzumi (ART Grand Prix) with Kevin Jörg (Dams).
