The news may seem surprising for a promotion formula, but the two-time defending champion will defend her possessions again this year. Victorious six times in the space of eight races in 2021, Jamie Chadwick is back again this year to defend her titles, alongside Jenner Racing, the new team in the women's paddock. However, the young Briton confided to one of our reporters a few weeks ago that she could not find the W Series “in his plans”. So why such a comeback?

Prestigious circuits, an attractive team but above all, a lack of opportunities?

This year again, the W Series races will be structured around the Grand Prix weekends of F1, where eight dates have been preserved. Starting with the Miami GP in the United States next May. The young 23-year-old Briton, who will therefore try to win a historic treble under her new colors, will first have the opportunity to race at the same time as F1, where the exposure is generally more important. Beyond the prestigious circuits that it will be able to test, the W Series is preparing to discover five new circuits. Enough to offer a more considerable spectacle? That remains to be seen.

It must also be said that Jamie Chadwick's return to competition takes place at the same time as the arrival of Jenner Racing in the world of motorsport. A stable owned by a certain Caitlyn Jenner, former Olympic decathlon champion in the 70s under the name Bruce Jenner, and who is none other than the father of the Kardashian/Jenner girls. A name therefore well known across the Atlantic.

“I'm really excited to return to the W Series to defend my title, relates the double reigning champion. The fact that Jenner Racing asked me to come back was an opportunity that I did not hesitate to seize. Together we are determined to do everything in our power to win the third title. I spoke to Caitlyn Jenner and her vision for the team is incredible. I have no doubt that she will be able to help me take my career to the next level and open doors for me internationally. »

If the opportunity to collaborate with the Jenner family could have motivated Jamie Chadwick to return to the W Series, we can also imagine that the young British driver has still not found program(s) and challenge(s) interesting enough to the 2022 season, she who sees herself in the future discovering other promotion formulas, almost exclusively reserved for male drivers, namely the F2 and F3.

“This is an important year of development for me. I intend to establish a supporting racing program and I have never hidden my desire to compete in F3 and F2. But timing is everything and the opportunity the W Series gives me to gain more experience competing on world-class circuits is a key step in my journey to competing in F1. I want to thank the W Series for their continued support, and I look forward to kicking off season three in Miami. »

If Jamie Chadwick's results in car are pleading for her (double champion in W Series 2019 and 2021, champion in MRF Challenge in 2020, 4th in Asian Formula 3 in 2020…), her future does not seem to be settling for the moment. In the meantime, the Briton is making her return to the W Series. Probably for lack of anything better.
