Jean-Eric Vergne drives the point home

Jean-Eric Vergne (SG Formula) finished the Formula collective tests with a bang Renault 3.5 Series in Jerez. At the end of the two days of testing, the Frenchman achieved the best absolute time in the field (1:29:212), his second of the week, four days after his best time at Oulton Park, in F3 UK. Before starting a season structured around two programs, the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 vice-champion is ready to show itself at the forefront.

« I did a race simulation this afternoon, explains the Frenchman. It's good, because it's been a long time since I've done so many laps. Both this morning and at the end of the day, I achieved my best time in a single attempt. So I have adapted well to using new tires. We still need to work on the light aero configuration and fine-tune the pit stops and we will be ready for the season. »

Note that the two other French people who will be racing in the FR 3.5 Series this season also distinguished themselves. Nathanaël Berthon (International Draco Racing) set the second time of the day, in 1:29, while Nelson Panciatici (Lotus Racing Junior Team) placed eighth, with a time of 525:1. Next collective tests at Motorland Aragon, March 29 and 969.
