Jousse on the Magny-Cours podium

After Sébastien Bourdais (Silverstone, race 2), Franck Perera (Assen, race 1) and Franck Montagny (Assen, race 2), Julien Jousse is the fourth Frenchman to reach the podium in a Superleague Formula race this season. If he was the best placed French driver, he saw his three compatriots jointly annihilate their chances, Sébastien Bourdais having made a mistake by hitting Franck Perera and Franck Montagny (see elsewhere).

Third for a long time during race 2, Julien Jousse was able to climb into second position after the burst of pit stops. Too far from Max Wissel (FC Bale), the 2008 Formula vice-champion Renault 3.5 Series thus ensured its place on the podium and its qualification for the super final.

Starting fourth in this super final, Julien Jousse did not masterfully negotiate his first standing start of the season. But, through sheer force of will, the native of Issambres was able to come back on Craig Dolby (Tottenham) and especially on a tough James Walker (Liverpool FC) to finish in fourth place.

« I'm happy with the weekend which started badly with this disqualification (lap completed under yellow flag, editor's note) even though I was the fastest, declares the AS Roma pilot. Starting off so badly, we had to take risks and be present throughout the meeting. The second race allowed me to get on my first podium of the season. He was long overdue! »

« Barely got off the latter, I had to run to my pit to start my first super final, so it was my first standing start with this car and I was surprised by the clutch, continues Julien. It's a shame because I was really fast during those five laps, but I still managed to overtake Dolby and Walker to reach fourth place. I'm returning to the championship after a start to the season where I was always performing well without being able to achieve results, it all starts here in Magny-Cours! »
