The FR 2.0 WEC with the Super Series

The formula Renault 2.0 West European Cup, created in 2008 with the aim of extending its playing field to Spain and Portugal, has decided for next season to appear almost exclusively in the FFSA Super Series, a major motorsport event in France, third national automobile sporting event on the circuit after the 24H of Le Mans and the World Series by Renault.

However, Spain will always be integrated into the "Western Europe" concept of this championship, with the organization of an event as part of the World Series by Renault - in Barcelona or Motorland Aragon - and the organization of three events in France, very close to the Spanish border.

Patrick Sinault, promoter of the Renault Clio Cup Elf and the Formula Renault 2.0 West European Cup, explains this. “ After two years of exercise, we have noticed that the major difficulty in setting up the calendar is finding a regular platform for expression, with good attendance and good promotion, which affects the Franco-Iberian zone. from Europe. The observation is that this framework does not exist and that by creating it with our discipline alone, the Spanish and Portuguese meetings are too poorly attended with insufficient promotion, World Series by Renault meeting apart obviously with 90 spectators in 000. »

"En choosing the FFSA Super Series, the Formula Renault 2.0 WEC offers a playing field providing three events whose proximity to the Spanish border is interesting: Nogaro, Pau and Albi and/or Lédenon. This series will also allow teams to benefit from efficient and identical organization at each meeting. (…) We can already announce a maximum registration amount of €18 excluding tax, all inclusive. Collective tests will be offered independently to obtain better flexibility for the teams in terms of program. »
