The A1GP secures its future

The A1GP will begin its fifth season on the Surfers Paradise street circuit within a month. Wanting to react to the doubts expressed about the financial health of the series, Tony Teixeira declares that the budget has been finalized and that the final financing has been found. “ I have wanted to announce this new funding for a long time, confides Tony Teixeira, director of the A1GP. But the delay is linked to the importance of the announcement. I didn't want to find an agreement for just one year. I looked for an agreement of at least three or four years in order to stabilize the series and so that those who are involved in it have sufficient guarantees. »

« I've seen all the stories written over the past few weeks, recounting doubts about the future of the series. This is not new to me because I saw it at the start of each of our four seasons. These are not things I like to read because each time I have to explain what we are going to do and each time we end up finding solutions. »

While we also announce a possible withdrawal of Ferrari for the supply of engines, Tony Teixeira also wants to reassure the teams involved in A1GP. “ I will personally meet each of them (suppliers and partners) in the coming days. I want them to understand that the series is here to stay at the forefront of motorsport. They need to know that their involvement allows this series to experience increasing success. »

In addition, A1GP announces its agreement with IMG Sports, which will market the TV rights to the series throughout the world.
