The A1GP will start in the sun

Of the urban circuits around the world, that of Surfers Paradise is undoubtedly the most attractive, with its beaches, its palm trees, its buildings... If the A1GP management had already announced that it would be part of its calendar in November last, this meeting is now official. The Australian round of the A1GP will even be the season opener on October 25. The discipline will do like Champ Car in the past, by “grafting” itself onto the Australian V8 Supercars Championship Series.

From a statistical point of view, this event is successful for the French since the last three events of Champ Car, a discipline which has since merged with the?Indycar, dedicated Sébastien Bourdais (2005, 2007) and Nelson Philippe (2006).

In addition to this opening race, the A1GP will have a calendar of ten races. If the appointments are confirmed, they have not yet been revealed. One thing is certain, the Netherlands will still be visited, in Assen and no longer in Zandvoort. The Dutch event will take place at the end of the season, on May 16. The president of the A1GP, Tony Teixeira, however recognized that in addition to the ten races planned, he would like to add one or two meetings to the calendar.
