Martinez is the strong man at the start of the season

Marco Barba (Draco Racing) took advantage of the reverse grid principle to position himself in pole position for the first race. Marcos Martinez and Daniil Move (P1 Motorsport) overtook him when the lights went out. Barba is thus third, ahead of Charles Pic (Tech 1 Racing).

Marcos Martinez completed the first lap in the lead ahead of Daniil Move, Marco Barba and Charles Pic. Fourth, Bertrand Baguette is a little further behind and must contain Miguel Molina, James Walker (P1 Motorsport) and Brendon Hartley (Tech 1 Racing). In the lead, Marcos Martinez widens a slight gap against Daniil Move. For the gain of third position, the explanation rages between Marco Barba and Charles Pic. Bertrand Baguette, Miguel Molina and James Walker took the opportunity to get back into contact with the two men. In quick succession, Charles Pic was overtaken by Bertrand Baguette then Miguel Molina.

Behind Marcos Martinez, the positions are tightening. Daniil Move is joined by the group Barba / Baguette / Molina / Pic and Walker. Further behind, Brendon Hartley, 8th, must also defend his position against Pasquale di Sabatino (RC Motorsport), Chris Van der Drift (Epsilon Euskadi), Oliver Turvey (Carlin Motorsport) and Jaime Alguersuari (Carlin Motorsport).

Bertrand Baguette, 8th on the starting grid, continued his comeback and overtook his teammate Marco Barba to gain 3rd place at the end of the 5th lap. The Belgian quickly returns to Daniil Move. After four observation laps, Bertrand Baguette won at the “bus stop” chicane and is now second. At the same time Miguel Molina passes Marco Barba and takes 4th position. A lap later it was Charles Pic who overtook the Spaniard.

Twenty minutes of racing remain, Marcos Martinez has a 2??5 lead over Bertrand Baguette. Daniil Move is third ahead of Miguel Molina, Charles Pic, Marco Barba and James Walker. The latter leaves the peloton and ends up in the gravel trap. This benefits Oliver Turvey (Carlin Motorsport). First among the Rookies, the Briton returns to 7th place. He then managed to gain the upper hand over Marco Barba and took 6th position.

Marcos Martinez won his third victory in three races ahead of Bertrand Baguette. In the last laps, Miguel Molina found the opening against Daniil Move and took third position. The Russian was also surprised by Charles Pic on the last lap.

Marcos Martinez: “Our goal was to finish on the podium. I got off to a good start and set a very good pace. I increased the pace when Bertrand Baguette returned to second place and I maintained the gap. It's a very good operation, it allows us to consolidate our first place in the Championship. »

Bertrand Baguette: “It’s a good day for us. I got off to a good start and had some success in Les Combes. I was not on the right trajectory but ultimately it worked in my favor. It was difficult to get back on Marcos at the end of the race because I really hit my tires to overtake the other competitors. »

Miguel Molina: “After a difficult weekend in Barcelona, it is very important for us to get back on the podium. It was not easy to overtake Daniil Move. He defended his position well. Impossible to catch up with Bertrand at the end of the race, so I am content with the points for 3rd place! »
