Montagny with Bordeaux in Superleague

France will take more place this season in Superleague Formula. After Olympique Lyonnais, which arrived in 2009, the Girondins de Bordeaux take the track this season, the year when the Superleague Formula increases its program to twelve races. As for Franck Montagny, he is the first French driver made official this season in the discipline, while several of his compatriots – Sébastien Bourdais, Tristan Gommendy, Julien Jousse, Nelson Panciatici? rode in 2009, with success for the most part.

« I am very happy and looking forward to participating in this growing championship, confides Franck Montagny, happy to find a complete program in car, after stints in A1 GP, IndyCar Series, ChampCar and, of course, seven Grands Prix of F1 with Super Aguri in 2006. The Superleague Formula will allow me to rediscover a lot of old knowledge from F1 and other categories. The involvement of the Barazi-Epsilon team, with whom I have already been able to achieve great things in the past (victory in Open Telefonica Formula Nissan in 2001, editor's note), as well as FC Girondins de Bordeaux, the reigning French Champion football club, makes this challenge very motivating. »

Already, in 2009, the Girondins de Bordeaux, on the verge of being French football champions, were close to joining the discipline. The 2010 season was finally a good one and the conditions for Bordeaux's arrival in the Superleague seemed to be sufficiently solid to aim for the leading roles.

« The club has followed the initiation of the Superleague Formula project from the start, but had not until then managed to bring together all the favorable conditions for a commitment., confirms Vincent Repoux, deputy general director of the Girondins de Bordeaux. With a ticket bringing together a driver of the caliber of Franck Montagny with the technical team of Michel Lecomte who has proven himself over more than twenty years in various single-seater championships, the chances are great to fly the colors of the Girondins de Bordeaux high in the concert of major international clubs. »
