New FR 2.0 being tested at Motorland

Twelve drivers were able to take turns at the wheel of Nouvelle Formula Renault 2.0, the car which will now equip the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 as well as the national championships. It is on board chassis n°1, the first chassis to leave the factory workshops Alpine of Dieppe, that the drivers invited by Renault Sport Technologies were able to gauge the characteristics of the car.

Filipe Albuquerque, who knew the car perfectly having participated in its development, covered the first kilometers on Monday, before handing over the wheel to Mathieu Arzeno, 2009 Espoir from Echappement magazine. It was then the experienced Aleix Alcaraz who tried New Formula Renault 2.0, being able to compare its qualities with those of its predecessor, in particular its efficiency gain.

Luciano Bacheta, also a connoisseur of the old single-seater, took the wheel of New Formula Renault 2.0 on Tuesday, in better weather conditions. Sandro Lukovic then Grégoire Demoustier, who played his second this winter Andros Trophy with Olivier Panis (Skoda), then tried the single-seater developed by Renault Sport Technologies, before handing over the wheel to Vincent Beltoise and Thibaut Taquet.

On Wednesday, Yann Zimmer, vice-champion of Formul?Academy Euro Series (now F4 Eurocup 1.6), tried the single-seater, as well as Bart Hykelma and Jakub Klasterka. These three days of testing allowed the teams involved to confirm their commitment to Formula Renault 2.0, the drivers being able to measure the performance of this new single-seater.

The KTR, CRAM Competition and Korainen Bros teams were also present at Motorland, to begin running their cars. For the KTR team, it was Kurt Mollekens himself who was responsible for giving the FR 2.0 its first spin.

Due to the very changeable weather conditions, the test organizers decided not to take the times of the different drivers. On the other hand, the first collective tests will take place on the Ricardo-Tormo circuit in Valencia on February 22 and 23.
