New FR 2.0: more efficient and less expensive

After 6000 kilometers of testing carried out by the new car de Renault Sport Technologies, New Formula Renault 2.0 debuted on nine European circuits, carrying out seventeen days of testing. The single-seater is making its mark, the Renault teams are refining it so that it is ready for next season. Sold for 57 euros excluding taxes, its operating costs are down 500% compared to the single-seater currently used in Eurocup Formula Renault 10 as well as in all FR 2.0 national championships.

This new version of the single-seater can count on a seven-speed semi-automatic gearbox, with only one set of gears being adopted for the season. Renault Sport Technologies has also focused on reducing the number of spare parts, thereby achieving significant economies of scale. Reducing costs is at the center of the design of this car since the tires are now capable of covering 200 km, each single-seater being required to use 29 train tires per season, instead of the current 33. Savings will be possible thanks to the increased longevity of certain parts, such as brakes (discs and pads). The running cost of this single-seater thus drops by around 15% compared to the current single-seater.

Safety is also another carefully studied point on New Formula Renault 2.0. After numerous safety tests, this single-seater is the first homologated according to FIA standards F3 2011. It will make its competitive debut in 2010 as part of the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and in the FR 2.0 national championships.
