Oscar Piastri starts his season with a victory in Austria

Dream debut in FIA F3 for Oscar piastri. Starting third on the grid, the Australian from Prema Racing won the very first race of the season, this Saturday morning in Austria.

The title holder in Formula Renault Eurocup beat his teammate Logan sargeant and his compatriot Alex Pironi (Campos Racing) after 24 very lively laps on the track this Saturday morning.

Thanks to a dream start, the rookie, member of the Renault Sport Academy, definitively took the lead after three turns, passing Lirim Zendeli (Trident). Pole sitter Sebastian Fernandez (ART Grand Prix), surprised when the lights went out, had to retire after contact with Piastri at turn 1 while trying to maintain his position.

After this lively start, the future winner created a comfortable mattress for three seconds to keep Sargeant at bay. The American was also more busy resisting the attacks of Alex Peroni, 3rd and author of the fastest lap in the race, rather than chasing his teammate. The third Prema driver, Frédérik Vesti, finished just off the podium.

In the French clan, our two rookies had a great race. Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) made several good overtakes in the peloton, finishing 13th after starting 20th. But above all, Clément Novalak (Carlin) will start from pole this Sunday, after having gleaned 10th position, and under the reverse grid rule.
