Pic, the Silverstone click

If Frenchman Charles Pic won the second Silverstone race in Formula Renault 3.5, it is above all the Tech 1 Racing team which has emerged from the shadows in Great Britain. While the 135 spectators awaited the exploits of the British drivers, they were only able to occupy the places of honor. The fault lies with Marcos Martinez in the first race, then with Charles Pic in the second. The latter, to make his task easier, took pole on Saturday morning. “ I think something happened in the team at that time, says Simon Abadie, team boss. It gave confidence to all the guys, starting with our drivers. » Indeed, in addition to Pic’s pole, Brendon Hartley, not very effective this season in the series he competes in, was able to add a third place to the qualifying menu for Tech 1.

During the first race, the reversed positions offer little hope to the French team, which nevertheless sees its two drivers put in a serious race to finish in the Top 8 (Hartley 5th, Pic 7th). Sunday's race was the meeting awaited by the French, who would be able to benchmark their level of performance by starting from pole. And this result would satisfy the entire team. “ We knew it was coming, confides Simon Abadie. Even if we did not get the expected start to the season, we never lost confidence in ourselves, nor in our drivers, who did not lose confidence in us either. »

The victory at Silverstone was that of Tech 1 Racing but Abadie did not forget to highlight the work of Charles Pic. “ I am very happy for Charles. He had a great weekend. He proved again today that when he starts in front, he is simply impossible to stop. » The boss of the French team even indulges in the hope of experiencing a very prolific end of the season, since he keeps an eye on the rankings. “ Now it's gone. I am convinced that the Drivers and Teams titles are still within our reach. »
