Richard Verschoor surprises at the 2019 Macau Grand Prix

Juri Vips (Hitech GP) appeared as favorite for this 66th Macau Grand Prix, also FIA World Cup F3, but it's Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport) who created a surprise this Sunday by winning in front of the poleman of the event.

Vips remains in the lead at the start of the Lisboa corner while Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport) makes the right move by slipping into second position ahead of Robert Shwartzman (SJM Prema Theodore) and Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix), Shwartzman giving up in Lisboa with a damaged front wing in contact with Lundgaard.

The fourth lap saw Leonardo Pulcini (Campos Racing) crash into the wall in Lisboa, before Ferdinand Habsburg (ART Grand Prix) pulverized his car in the S. The safety car is logically deployed to take care of the two damaged cars.

The restart took place eight laps from the finish, and Richard Verschoor took control of the race against Vips, taking advantage of the slipstream all the way to Lisboa. The race continues until Sophia Flörsch (HWA) stops at the side of the track before the Mandarin corner, which requires the use of the virtual safety car.

At the green flag, Verschoor almost got surprised, but managed to stay in front of Vips, who attempted an attack a few moments later in Lisboa, but veered a little wide, giving the leader a small lead.

The Dutchman resists until the end and wins in front of Vips and Logan sargeant (Carlin), who got the better of Christian Lundgaard. Double defending champion, Dan Ticktum (Carlin) finished the event in 13th place.
