Tambay aims for GP3? but not only

Adrien Tambay, if he has been somewhat eclipsed by the arrival of Romain Grosjean ? future champion? in Auto GP, had a season full of promise. In addition to his performances in this new discipline, he was able to do some “free work” in the GP3 Series with Manor Racing, winning the prize for the best victory of the season (Spa).

After this great 2010 season, the young Frenchman can look to the future, GP3 could be part of his plans. “ We try, with Gravity Sport Management, to find the best possible program, He explains. I had the pleasure this season, in addition to AutoGP, to drive for Manor Racing in the GP3 Series and to win for them at Spa-Francorchamps. A great working relationship was born during these weekends and we further strengthened our ties during the last days of testing. This is an interesting option for 2011, although other avenues are being studied. »

GP3 is a possibility for Adrien Tambay, who drove for four days of testing with Manor Racing in recent weeks. For the Frenchman, these tests prove useful. “ This is an opportunity to review a lot of different settings. Once the season is over, the teams focus solely on tinkering with the settings best suited to each track on race Friday. In private testing, we can afford to try more extreme things without any particular consequences. In Jerez, this is clearly the choice that was made with Manor Racing without focusing on the times achieved by the competition. »

At the end of these tests, the Gravity pilot is satisfied with the work carried out. In Estoril, “ I rode the first and third days, which allowed me to closely observe the drivers on the track on the second day. I was very close to the fastest on the first day and we were able to progress to achieve the absolute best performance on the last day. While in Estoril we used the “medium” tires, the following week we drove with the hardest compounds available. This was quite confusing and forced me to adapt my driving style to manage more pronounced understeer. It was only possible to judge our level of performance during the last afternoon of testing, where I was among the very first. »
