Turvey for a first

The competitors in Group A are the first to take to the Monaco track. Lap after lap, the times evolve and the best time keeps changing owners. Marcos Martinez and James Walker stand out, taking turns at the top of the scoresheet. But in this area, the Briton is stronger and is constantly improving his best time. Adrian Valles and Charles Pic made a mistake at La Rascasse and caused the red flag to appear. At the end of the half hour of qualifying, James Walker is ahead of Marcos Martinez, who was able to secure his second place, then DiSabatino, Valles and Alguersuari.

Walker set the tone with a benchmark of 1:27:495 that the Group B drivers have in their sights. Adrian Zaugg sets the first big time, close to that of Walker. Miguel Molina challenges him for pole but Zaugg immediately takes his place. Molina tries to get back into the lead again but makes a mistake. While Zaugg is still improving, Oliver Turvey is showing the end of his car in second position then steals pole, a first for him in Formula Renault 3.5.

Following the session, the reference times of John Martin, Miguel Molina and Mihal Marinescu were canceled. Meanwhile, Oliver Turvey was delighted with his first pole, on this legendary Monaco circuit: “ We knew that the track conditions would improve during the session. The goal was therefore to be able to give everything in the last lap. It worked well. In free practice I immediately felt at ease on this circuit, even though I am discovering everything about Monaco. I will do everything to get my first victory here, it?s the best place to win. You will have to be wary of James Walker at the start. He has great experience. »
