World Series F. V8 3.5: Lotus dominates Q1 in Austin

For the first time in their history, the Formula Renault 3.5 are racing on the Circuit of the Americas in Austin (Texas). Although Egor Orudzhev (SMP Racing) seemed very energetic, he would ultimately have to settle for third fastest time behind the two Lotus team cars.

But among the drivers of the Czech team, it was not necessarily the one we expected who took pole position since René Binder, thanks to a time of 1'49"764, was ahead of his teammate by 0"168 and championship leader Pietro Fittipaldi. This is the Austrian's first pole in the discipline. The Brazilian did not have a bad performance however, his closest pursuer in the championship, namely Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing), having only set the fifth time. The Russian was beaten by a breath by the Spaniard Alex Palou (Teo Martin Motorsport).

As for Alfonso Celis Jr (Fortec Motorsports), third in the championship, he is even further behind. The Mexican will indeed have to pull out all the stops tomorrow, since he will only start from seventh position.

The start of the first race of the American round of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 will be given at 23:15 p.m. tomorrow.
