WSR – Formula Renault 2.0 evolves

After being launched in 2010, the Formula Renault 2.0 will get a new kit for next year so aero and safety will be improved. The mechanical and electronic elements have been preserved in order to limit costs, including in particular the 4hp Renault F832R 210 engine as well as the seven-speed sequential gearbox. The front and rear fenders have also been preserved.

The new Formula Renault 2.0 will benefit from 30% additional aero load without an increase in drag thanks to the new design, the new hull and the new flat bottom. The hull's torsional rigidity has also improved while the weight is down 15kg. The performance of the car are on the rise after 650km of tests carried out and now comply with FIA standards F3 2012 apart from the anti-intrusion panels.

The new kit will be installed in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Formula Renault 2.0 Nec and Formula Renault 2.0 Alps. In Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, 36 single-seaters will be accepted with 12 different teams. Collective tests will be organized at the end of the season in Spain, on the Catalan circuit (November 6, 7 and 8, 2012 then November 27, 28 and 29), at Motorland Aragón (November 12 and 13) then in Valencia (November 22 and 23).
