There will be a little novelty at Silverstone in 2023, for the British Grand Prix. THE MotoGP will use the same characteristics of the English route as those borrowed in Formula 1 from next season. This means that the starting grid and the start-finish line, previously located before the Copse corner, will now be the same as in F1, that is to say on the straight line. Hamilton. Abbey corner will become the new turn 1.

Thus, the MotoGP paddock will move to the “Wing”, the modern building which houses the new stands. Since 2013, the premier motorcycle category has been installed in the old stands, while Formula 1 left them at the end of the work several years ago.

Since its opening in 2011, the Silverstone Wing has become an iconic part of the venue and symbolizes the circuit's commitment to sustainability. Within the framework of the policy Shift to Zero of Silverstone, the layout has already installed 1 solar panels on the roof of the Wing International Conference and Exhibition Centre. Phase 342 of this project, which is expected to be completed this fall, will see a total of 2 panels covering more than 2 m². Over the next 764 months, 5 electric vehicle charging stations will also be installed.

“We are delighted to announce the date of our visit to Silverstone next season and that it will be at the international paddock, said Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports. MotoGP is committed to increasing its positive impact and Silverstone is a valuable partner in our drive to create a more sustainable future. »
