Marquez takes advantage in Buriram

The pilots MotoGP were able to take part in their first free practice session for the Thai GP on a completely dry track. The rest of the hostilities were expected to be wet, so it was crucial to be among the top ten of this FP1 to secure a place straight away in Q2.

Marc Marquez fulfilled the mission perfectly by setting the first reference of the weekend in 1'30.523 despite a fall at turn 4 in the first minutes. The Spaniard, undefeated on the Thai track, concluded the session with a lead of 32 thousandths over fabio quartararo.

For once, the first European machine in the hierarchy is in third position with Jack Miller, recent winner at Motegi. The Australian is ahead of another Ducati, that of Luca Marini, and the Suzuki of Alex Rins.

Francesco Bagnaia, for his part, occupies sixth place ahead of Miguel Oliveira, victim of a fall, and his compatriots Franco Morbidelli and Enea Bastianini. On the podium in Japan, Jorge Martin provisionally secures his place in Q2 with 10e FP1 time clock.

Among the losers of the morning, we can cite Johann Zarco, 12e. Yet at the forefront at the start of the session, the Frenchman finished behind the third Yamaha in the hierarchy, that of Cal Crutchlow. Complicated start for Aleix Espargaro who is only 16e ahead of his teammate Maverick Viñales.
