Cévennes: Mourgues well established

At the end of the six special stages contested today, Jean-François Mourgues and Denis Giraudet (Peugeot 307 WRC / Team Bozian Racing) returned to Ganges with a good lead of more than sixteen seconds over Guillaume Canivenq and Sébastien Grimal (Peugeot 207 Super 2000 / Team Barroso Yacco). A lead gained by the crew throughout the day, the Peugeot 307 from Mourgues/Giraudet having won four of the six special stages scheduled for this Friday (SS2 to SS7).

However, Guillaume Canivenq and Patrick Henry remained in ambush, the first three cars being grouped together in less than thirty seconds. Guillaume Canivenq and Sébastien Grimal (Peugeot 207 Super 2000), after having occupied the head of the Rally Thursday evening, at the end of SS1, set a scratch time this Friday, during SS4. And, after seven stages, the crew of the 207 S2000 is only 16??8 behind Mourgues/Giraudet.

For the leader of the event, the narrow roads of the Cévennes are not necessarily favorable to the WRC, theoretically faster than the Super 2000. It's not easy for a WRC compared to a Super 2000 which is perhaps more manageable and agile. », confirmed Jean-François Mourgues during the day.

However, the 307 WRC driver has a solid lead this Friday evening, with only two loops of two special stages remaining on Saturday. Despite the close end of the Rallies, drivers will have to be wary of the first section, contested between Valleraugue and the Col de la Tribale, the longest special of the weekend.
