Nicolas Latil takes the lead at Gap Racing

In an overheated atmosphere around Tallard (Hautes-Alpes), the Rally Gap Racing began this Saturday with three special stages on the menu, on courses well known to regulars of the event.

At the end of this first stage, he is a former multiple winner, Nicolas Latil (Volkswagen Polo GTI R5) who was the fastest, notably with a great time in SS3, second pass in Lardier – Fouillouse.

Already the author of the scratch in the first passage of SS1, Latil further improved his mark in 2'57"5 on the second lap despite poor asphalt, to be more than 2" ahead of the outgoing winner Romain Roche, who is discovering this week -end the Citroën C3 R5 of the FPF.

Enough to give Latil a lead of 2″8 this evening, Damien Oberti (Citroën C3 R5) standing 4″9 behind the leader in third position. Headliner of this 2020 edition, David Salanon places his Volkswagen Polo GTI R5 in fourth position at 5″5.

The former winner of the Coupe de France final lost time on SS1 at the final hairpin, as well as with complicated start management on his Polo GTI R5. The top 5 is completed by Thierry Pascal (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo) who precedes Eric Mauffrey (Skoda Fabia Rally2 Evo).

The group F2 is dominated by Benjamin Cardenas (Peugeot 306) when Pierre-Jean Chirat (Renault Clio S1600) is at the forefront in group A. In VHC, François Foulon places his Ford Escort RS1800 at the head of the category.
