Engine problems disrupt Jari-Matti Latvala's return

Not renewed by the Toyota Gazoo Racing pour 2020, Jari-Matti Latvala nevertheless found the peloton WRC this week, on the occasion of a Rally from Sweden where he had triumphed four times in the past.

Lined up in a “private” Toyota Yaris, the Finn was counting on this event to remember the good memories of the field. 9th fastest time in SS2, the first of this Swedish round, Latvala lost time in a spin in SS3 before technical issues got involved in SS4.

“We had a technical problem and the engine kept cutting out – I don't know what it is, indicates the former Volkswagen driver. I had to keep restarting it and starting over.

Hopefully we can sort this out at the service park later today, but our rally is over – we've lost too much time. »

Latvala was on the retirement list and did not take part in the last timed sector of the day, the Torsby Sprint serving as SS5.
