Lappi and Ogier first leaders of the Estonian Rally

At the end of the inaugural special of Rally of Estonia 2020, we find not one but two tied leading crews. Over a very short portion of 1,28 km, Sébastien Ogier-Julien Ingrassia (Toyota) et Esapekka Lappi-Janne Ferm (Ford) ont réalisé le même chrono.

Les Français n’ont pas été handicapés par leur rôle d’ouvreurs de la piste tandis que les Finlandais ont contrebalancé le déficit en vitesse de la Fiesta préparée par M-Sport. “This terrain is not really what we will find on the special stages tomorrow (SATURDAY), but it's a great start, rejoiced Esapekka Lappi. We didn't expect to finish in front! »

The outgoing champion Ott Tänak (Hyundai), pourtant le plus rapide du shakedown matinal, se contente du troisième rang (+0″1). Contre-performance toute relative à mettre au crédit de Thierry Neuville, ninth, 1″5 behind the leaders and last official representative of the South Korean brand.

For their first outing aboard the Hyundai i20 WRC, the French Pierre-Louis Loubet and Vincent Landais rank 13th (+3”4). “The ground lacked grip but I am very happy to make my WRC start,” said the 23-year-old pilot.

In WRC 2, Mads Ostberg (Citroën) impressed by getting into the middle of the WRC (6th). The first special of the day on Saturday will start at 6:40 a.m. French time! Enjoy your coffee with us while reading our live text of the event on AUTOhebdo.fr.
