Canada and Estonia candidates for the WRC

Could the introduction this season of Chile (May 9-12) be just the first upheaval in a changing calendar? After the almost certain addition of Japan next year and that of the Safari in the very near future (2020? 2021?) if the latter receives its validation at the beginning of July, Canada and Estonia have just entered the WAITING ROOM. Eager to give an even more global distribution to the championship, the promoter of WRC and the FIA are pushing the organizers to speed up their preparation.

Based in Ottawa, the rally of Canada, which would appear on the menu in 2022, would use specials in Quebec and Ontario. If, for the moment, no European meeting has been missed, would this arrival of Canada not pose a threat to Sweden? With its status as the only race on snow, it seemed protected until now, but its insoluble snow problems and its cramped geographical location in Torsby are weighing it down.

By focusing on the country with the maple leaf, the promoter would guarantee real winter conditions while welcoming a new overseas country. If the two events coexist, this will surely condemn another on earth (Sardinia?). For its part, Estonia has not officially applied. But aren’t the 980 euros granted by the state to organize a promotional event in favor of the WRC just a first step? A sum which should allow the arrival of representatives of the four manufacturers present in the world championship this summer, for the Rally of Estonia (July 000-12). The promoter of the WRC, regretting the large audience in Poland, could find there a choice alternative.
