For his return to the world calendar after eight years of absence, Rally of Greece, which will officially be called “Acropolis, The Rally of Gods” will take place over 16 special stages from September 9 to 12, 2021.
The test of WRC will include a total of 292,16 km of timed portion. The event will take place around the town of Lamia, located in the Central Greece region, 152 km from the capital Athens.
The latter will also host the start of the first stage, the day after a special which remains to be defined. After five specials on Friday, it’s time for the toughest day of the event on Saturday. 133 km are planned over six special stages.
Finally, the final stage will reserve the longest special stage of the competition, Pyrgos and its 33,3 kilometers at daybreak. The Tarzan special will serve as the Power Stage.
The Greek meeting is known to be very difficult for men and machines. Its winding, rocky mountainous roads where the gravel hides numerous traps have forged a solid reputation. The event joined the world in 1973, with a victory for Frenchman Jean-Luc Thérier in theAlpine A110.
The rally appeared in the WRC on 38 occasions and garnered a cult following among fans before leaving the championship in 2013.
