The final between the candidatures of Corsica and Alsace ultimately turned to the advantage of the latter. For the first time in the history of WRC, the French round of the World Championship will take place elsewhere than in Corsica. Since 1973 in fact, the island of beauty has welcomed WRC drivers every year with the exception of 2008 because of the alternation rule.
The Bureau of the Federation has therefore unanimously decided to select the Alsace region for the organization of the French round of the World Rally Championship from 2010, and for the next three seasons.
From September 29 to October 3, 2010, WRC competitors, Sébastien Loeb in the lead, will therefore travel to the east to compete in the 11th round of the World Championship. A native of the region, the six-time World Champion was of course the first to support the candidacy of the Alsace committee, as was his employer who owns a factory in Mulhouse from which the C4s come out.
