Rally Liepaja confirms discussions with WRC

Le Rally Liepaja could become a round of WRC This year. This is in any case the wish of the organizers of the Latvian event, RA Events, who are part of the discussion group with the promoter of the world championship.

The WRC is actively searching following the coronavirus crisis where 5 rounds have already been canceled. The championship still has no resumption dates even if Sardinia Rally remains in contention while the Italian event was scheduled for this month.

“RA Events and WRC Promoter began discussions last Monday, explained Raimonds Strokss, director of RA Events. We discussed the multiple organizational aspects, terms and conditions, as well as many other aspects that must be managed by Latvia to hold a round of the WRC in parallel with a round of theERC."

Eurosport Events will take part in discussions if an agreement is reached, with the ERC promoter able to benefit from WRC coverage for its event. Rally Liepaja, which has been on the ERC calendar since 2013, will take place from August 14-16.
