Jari Huttunen’s first steps in Rally1

Born on February 28, 1994 in Kiuruvesi, 220 km north of Jyväskylä, Jari Huttunen played his first rally in 2013 on a Suzuki Swift N2. He hasn't stopped since. Choosing to go racing in Germany (winner of the ADAC Opel Rallye Cup in 2016) then in ERC, il a gravi les échelons jusqu’à accéder au championnat du monde. C’est par l’intermédiaire de Hyundai qu’Huttunen a peu à peu pu démontrer sa pointe de vitesse tout au long de la saison 2018. L’année suivante, alors qu’il continuait de se mettre en évidence en R5, Andrea Adamo lui a permis de disputer deux rallyes en Finlande avec une i20 WRC. After completing 2^e derrière Takamoto Katsuta lors de sa première apparition (Riihimäki-Ralli), il l’avait ensuite emporté au Pohjanmaa. C’est en 2020 qu’est intervenue la consécration avec le titre en WRC3. Le Finlandais est alors passé en WRC2 en 2021 avec un bilan mitigé et des perspectives d’avenir incertaines chez Hyundai d’où son choix de rejoindre M-Sport à la place de Teemu Suninen avant même la fin du calendrier. Avec 2 podiums (Suède, Sardaigne) en 2022, le Finlandais reste parmi les plus véloces, mais la concurrence est rude. Ayant réussi avec ses partenaires à réunir le budget pour aligner une Puma pour disputer sa manche nationale, Huttunen s’y élancera sans trop de repères.
